Update 3/26/2024: *Working directly with the Big Bend Continuum of Care; Homeless individuals can call on the 2nd and 4th Mondays at 9AM; They will be screened and their information sent to the BBCOC for processing *PROGRAM IS ONLY FOR FAMILIES OR INDIVIDUALS WHO ARE CURRENTLY HOMELESS *Helps homeless adults with or without children who have regular income to get into rental apartments or housing *For qualifying persons, may be able to pay security and utility deposits, first and last month's rent, utility assistance required to establish permanent housing *For this program, Homeless is defined as living on the street, in a car, hotel/motel, campground, travel trailer park or at the shelter or other transitional housing facility *Persons sharing housing with others or couch surfing may also qualify depending on the funding source *Persons or families trying to flee domestic violence, sexual violence or other dangerous situation may also qualify depending on the funding source *Eligibility: *Must be currently homeless *Must have regular verifiable source of income that is an adequate amount to be able to pay rent, utilities and all other monthly bills once the individual or family becomes re-housed.

June 2024 Update: Very limited funds available due to end of grant cycle; May not be taking applications until July *APPLICATIONS FOR ASSISTANCE WILL BE ACCEPTED ON THE SECOND (2nd) and Fourth (4th) MONDAYS at 9AM *BE AWARE THAT ALL FUNDS FOR RENT/UTILITY ASSISTANCE COME FROM SEVERAL DIFFERENT SOURCES, AND EACH SOURCE HAS DIFFERENT REQUIREMENTS (INCOME IS JUST ONE OF MANY FACTORS); ADDITIONALLY, FUNDING SOURCES CAN CHANGE FREQENTLY *Program may be able to assist qualifying persons with past due rent and/or utilities (and in some cases rental and/or utilities deposits) *Walk-ins are not accepted; a phone screening is required *Funding is available for adults with or without children in the home *For families with at least one child in the home who is age 17 or under, the adult applying for assistance must be the parent or guardian of the minor child or children who live in the home *Food pantry hours are from 9AM-Noon from Monday-Thursday; Baby diaper/other baby items assistance is available from 2:30PM-3:30PM from Monday-Thursday; Walk-ins are accepted for food and baby items only; Clients must bring a photo ID for food and baby items, and clients are eligible once every two months
