Florida KidCare
*Offers either free or affordable, low-cost health insurance for eligible, uninsured children birth through age 18 (coverage ends when child turns 19)
*In some cases there may be no charge, or may pay as little as $15 or $20 per month for all children in the family; there is a full pay option for ages 1-18 for eligible households with higher incomes
*Covered services: doctor visits, immunizations, dental care, prescriptions, hospital, surgery, vision and hearing care, mental health, preexisting conditions
*Four possible programs under the umbrella of Florida Kidcare: Medicaid for ages birth-18, Children's Medical Services (CMS) for ages birth to 18 with special healthcare needs, MediKids for ages 1-4, Florida Healthy Kids for ages 5-18
*KidCare will determine which program child may be eligible for based on age, family income and any special health care needs (Note that either Medicaid or CMS are the only possibilities for ages birth to 1 year old)
*Lawfully residing immigrant children may be eligible, and their parents immigration status will not be asked
*A child who is a member of a federally recognized America Indian or Alaskan Native tribe may qualify for no-cost
