*Informal educational organization and social program for girls under adult leadership *Activities geared to grade levels starting at Daisies (K-1st), Brownies (2nd-3rd), Juniors (4th-5th), Cadettes (6th-8th), Seniors (9th-10th) and Ambassadors (11th-12th) and are designed to help to build confidence, character and courage through decision-making and leadership skills *Week long summer camps available cost $450 for members and $500 for non members; yearly aquatic camps in the spring to teach sailing and other aquatic activities fees vary depending on equipment needed; cost can be offset by cookie sales *Council serves more than 4,000 girls, and 2,000 adult volunteers in all Panhandle counties

Girls on the Run Big Bend

*After school empowerment program for girls in 3rd-5th grade and 6th-8th grade where trained coaches use physical activity and dynamic discussions to build social, emotional, pysical skills, and encourage healthy habits for life *Registration OPENS AUGUST 2023 FOR FALL SEASON; Fall Season Starts September 25, 2022 *Registration is $125 per girl and includes: 20 ninety-minute sessions conducted by certified GOTR volunteer coaches, curriculum and lesson materials, a healthy snack at each session, official GOTR T-shirt and water bottle, 5K Registration fee, 5K Medal, Post 5k celebration *All registrants are considered for reduced/scholarship fees; simply answer the scholarship questions during registration, and the computer will determine your eligibility and adjust the fee accordingly.

Good News Outreach, Elder Services Food Program

*Services for economically disadvantaged older adults ages 55+ living at home, particularly those whose families are unable to offer much assistance *Monthly food pantry and delivery service; pantry open on W&Th from 9AM-2PM; grocery delivery for home bound seniors who qualify on a case-by-case basis, friendly visits and/or phone calls for companionship and well-being checks, and help with light housekeeping on a case by case basis; elders get nutritional supplements, adult hygiene products — and when possible, reading glasses and necessary kitchen tools *Proof of Leon County residency is required ​

Grandparents As Parents (GaP)

*Tallahassee Senior Foundation Program for grandparents who are the primary caregivers for their grandchildren *Offers support groups, informational luncheons, access to community agencies, legal services and health screenings plus social activities *Virtual Support Groups every other Monday via Zoom at 7PM; lunch meetings generally held last Wednesday of the month from 12-1:30pm, at the Leroy Collins Public library

*Part of the Suwanee River Regional Library System which serves Madison, Hamilton, and Suwannee Counties *Materials/services include books to be checked out for 3 weeks, magazines and CD's, books-on-tape/CD's, reference services, programs for children and adults, fax services, and a teen area *Computers and wi-fi available *Basic computer skills courses available *Summer Reading Program for ages pre-school to 17 *Branches located in Lee, 7883 E US Hwy 90, 32059 and Greenville, 1325 SW Main St, 32331 *Staff may help internet users get to the correct site to apply for Medicaid, Food Stamps, TANF and unemployment, but cannot help input information due to privacy issues
