*Helps low-income families acquire modest homes built using volunteer labor *Applicants: must be able to provide 400 hours of sweat equity performing various jobs, lived in Leon or Gadsden Counties for one year or more, held same job or source of income for 6 months or more, have household income within income guidelines, must be willing to make a small cash down payment, be willing to live on a lot provided by Habitat for Humanity *Mortgages: 30 years, houses sold at cost (materials, purchased labor, and land), for no profit and no interest *By June 2023 United Way funding is expected to result in the acquisition of land for 2 small subdivisions with a total of 10-16 sites for homes

Brehon Family Services, Brehon House

*Non-Emergency transitional housing for homeless, adult pregnant women and women with infants up to age 2 (without criminal background) on first come, first serve basis for 6 to 9 months; waiting period may be several months) *Pre and postnatal education, infant care training, case management *Career counseling, encouragement to continue schooling, assistance in finding permanent housing *May help with baby or maternity items on a limited basis

*Privately-owned, federally subsidized housing complex offering one, two and three bedroom apartments some of which rent based on percentage of annual income *Prospective tenants must apply at office for complete screening and application *Some apartments have minimum rental fee *Credit, rental history and criminal background check run on all applicants

*Faith-based organization offering a food pantry, clothing closet, thrift store, and utility and rent assistance *Assistance restricted to residents of Calhoun and Liberty Counties

*Church sponsors McKenzie's Clothing Closet with free clothes for all ages open 8:30AM-11AM every Monday *Church located on corner of Pensacola St and Ausley Rd

Capital City Youth Services, Going Places Street Outreach

*Outreach services for homeless, runaway and at risk youth (11 to 24) on the streets: Provides shelter or tents and/or tarps and survival supplies for living outdoors *Help with finding housing, employment, financial aid, ID acquisition, food stamps, bus tickets home, calls home for safe and well notification *Assistance with Medicaid, health and dental care, prescriptions, pregnancy and STD testing, substance abuse and mental health counseling *Drop in center at 2407 Roberts Ave, Tallahassee, 32310, (Bus Loop 7), open M, W, F, from 10AM-4PM, offers all services plus showers, laundry, computers, meals, food pantry, clothes closet and a safe place to be *Services also available where Safe Place signs are placed, such as a table, banner or vehicle with Going Places logo

*Organizations displaying black and yellow "Safe Place" sign have staff who have received training to assist troubled youth or runaways *Staff are prepared to contact Capital City Youth Services or other organizations as needed and provide a safe place for children and adolescents to wait until other services can be arranged *Transportation to Capital City Youth Services shelter is available from any Safe Place site *If youth is a runaway, parents will be notified *Safe Place Sites in Leon County: Capital City Youth Services; Tallahassee Fire Departments (14 locations); Tallahassee Parks and Recreation Community Centers (6 locations); Tallahassee Police Department; Leon County Sheriff's Department; Star Metro Buses; The Florida State Capitol Building (The Capitol Police); Department of Juvenile Justice Headquarters; Department of Transportation; The Florida Network of Youth and Family Services; FDLE; Capital Health Plan and Starbucks (3 locations)

*Safe short-term crisis shelter for youth ages 10-17, for up to 2 weeks stay, includes domestic violence respite and probation respite *Youth can self-admit, but CCYS will contact parents of a runaway within 24 hours to ensure the youth is willing to stay at CCYS.

CARE-Tallahassee

*Faith-based transitional home for male sex offenders returning from prison; must agree to Christian Biblical studies, community rules, and attendance at required meetings/chapels *Residents on probation or parole must be from the 2nd Circuit only *Residents pay $450 per month, $115 per week or $15-25 per day; there is a $400 application fee for Leon County, $500 for out of county but in the 2nd Circuit and $600 for out of state *Offer jobs in lawn care services
