*3/28/24 Update, limited funds available for UTILITY Assistance for Leon and Gadsden County residents; no rent funds currently available *ONLY TAKING SCREEENING CALLS MONDAYS FROM 9AM TO 10AM; DUE TO THE HIGH CALL VOLUME MANY WILL EXPERIENCE A BUSY SIGNAL, DISCONNECTION, OR A MESSAGE SAYING THE LINE IS NOT IN SERVICE *IF A CALLER GETS THROUGH TO VOICEMAIL DO NOT LEAVE A MESSAGE, THEY WILL NOT RECEIVE A RETURN CALL OR BE CONTACTED IN ANY WAY, ONLY THOSE WHO GET THROUGH TO A LIVE PERSON WILL BE ABLE TO BE SCREENED FOR AN APPLICATION *AN APPOINTMENT TO APPLY FOR ASSISTANCE IS REQUIRED; call Monday mornings between 9AM and 10AM for a pre-screening interview to find out if eligible for an appointment *Utility and rental assistance procedures and eligibility: *Must meet income guidelines, due to funding source inability to pay bill must be a related to a specific financial hardship, available only once every 12 months *Can only pay current month's bill, cannot pay past bills, deposits or closed accounts, utilities must still be connected, payment must ensure another 30 days of service *Have utility bill in hand when calling; do not leave a message as staff is not available to return calls *Any documents required must be brought to the first appointment as a physical copy; no email attachments or screen shots or any other form will do *When the office is closed on a Monday for a state holiday or other reason, in almost all cases utility assistance calls are taken at the same time on Tuesday

Senior Citizens Council of Madison County

*Senior Center offers congregate meals (hot lunches) at two locations: the Senior Center in Madison and 166 SW Onslow St, Greenville 32331 (behind Greenville City Hall), home delivered meals, recreational and educational activities, homemaker service, personal care assistance, respite care, food pantry, transportation for medical purposes and to and from the center for activities, telephone support, environmental modification and housing repair, pest control, loan closet for medical supplies, Health & Wellness *Emergency Home Energy Assistance Program (EHEAP) will pay for home energy bills in a crisis (Over 60, low income, SRA approved, confirming letter from power company, or receive food stamps) *Additional in-home services include case management, screening and assessment, housekeeping, pest control, emergency alert response systems, home delivered meals, health prevention, chore information, telephone reassurance, companionship, nutritional education and more *Rescue Closet Program loans out equipment up to eight weeks, if the items is needed longer a request may be placed for an extension; Items based on availability and can include walkers, wheelchairs (manual and electric), tub seats, portable commodes, canes, transfer board and crutches free of charge to seniors

*Utility payment assistance when funds are available (At times there may be long periods when funds are not available, since they rely on grants) *Persons seeking assistance should apply online through the website on Mondays from 8AM-5PM *Persons unable to apply online or with questions may call either number and may have to leave a message *In person assistance available at the Taylor County office by appointment only; In person assistance available at the Madison County office on Wednesdays by appointment *Not able to assist with food

*Possibly able to work out Payment Plans, Payment Arrangements or an Extensions based on the individual situation *Customer must have had service for six months prior to requesting payment plan and not have had any disconnects, returned checks or other delinquencies in that previous six months; however, City will work with customers who have not had service for six months on a case by case basis Customers who have applied for utility payment assistance with a social service agency and are waiting on an answer should give this information when they call *Call center is open 6am-11pm every day except Christmas.

*Will work with customers with past due utility bills and needing payment plan, on a case-by-case basis *Customers wishing to request payment plan should contact local billing office or headquarters in Quincy *DOES NOT provide any direct assistance with utility bills *Talquin Assistance Program (TAP) allows customers to donate and help others by choosing to have their account(s) rounded up to the nearest dollar on their monthly utility bill; funds contributed used to assist Talquin Members who cannot pay their utility bill due to job loss, illness, or other crisis circumstances; all screening to receive TAP funds will be handled by Capital Area Community Action Agency; to apply for assistance from TAP members should contact Capital Area Community Action Agency at (850) 222-2043 to schedule an appointment; enrollment form can be found here https://www.
