*Three programs help increase affordable and safe housing for homeowners in Jefferson, Taylor and Wakulla Counties *First time buyers should first contact a mortgage company to be qualified, then contact Government Services Group to see if a program is open in their county *Demo and Reconstruction assists very low income households whose homes are determined to be more than 51% structurally unsound; damage must not be due to intentional neglect or abuse; program levels qualifying homes and rebuilds them *Down Payment Assistance helps very low to moderate income families in purchasing a home with closing costs and down payment, or with building a new home *Rehabilitation Assistance offers very low to low income families help with repairs: broken windows, deteriorated floors, leaking roofs, etc *Disabled and elderly persons given priority on all programs

Brehon Institute, Project SAFE, Madison/Taylor

*Program office in Tallahassee, but workers travel to Madison and Taylor Counties to provide services *In-home visiting service to assist at-risk pregnant women and families with children through age 17 by visiting case management and parent education on weekly basis *Promotes healthy birth outcomes, positive parenting skills and/or job skills, knowledge of available services, independence, personal goals, and family unity *Can serve family 3 to 6 months

*Outpatient and In-patient mental health services for Gadsden County residents including primary care, mental health evaluations, case management, medication management, psychosocial rehabilitation and psychiatric assessments for individuals, families and groups ages 6 through adults *Fees depend on patient needs and services; accepts most insurances, Medicaid, Medicare, and has an income based sliding scale for those who are uninsured

*Program focuses on the six dimensions of children's well-being: Physical and Mental Health, Quality Early Education and Development, Social-Emotional Development, Spiritual Foundation and Strength, Safe and Nurturing Environment, Economic Stability *Web-based listing of community programs serving young children and families; parents/guardians may access information by calling health department *Advisor available to assist parents or guardians fill out on-line profile of child (up to 5 years of age) through the "Connect" process noting his/her needs *Program lists resources; system matches child/family to community services; upon request by parent or guardian, profile forwarded to selected agencies dealing with needs indicated *Agency contacts parents who decide how to move forward in getting help

*Provides sports training and athletic competition year-round for persons with intellectual or other developmental disabilities, ages 8 and up *Coaching and volunteer opportunities available
