FSU Counseling & Psychological Services

*Short-term outpatient mental health counseling to currently enrolled FSU students including individual, group, and couples counseling, crisis intervention, substance abuse evaluation and counseling, eating disorder treatment offered face-to-face, by phone, and telemental health online via Zoom *Services covered by student fees, no out-of-pocket expenses; enrolled FSU students may include a partner or spouse for couples counseling as long as one person is an FSU student *Services are performed by licensed psychologists, social workers, mental health counselors, treatment coordinators and a mental health education coordinator supervising doctoral, masters, and practicum interns; Persons wishing to see a licensed therapist should request one; Referrals to other mental health professionals when needed *Daily psychoeducation workshops focusing on anxiety and depression available via Zoom *For a mental health crisis, the number is available for FSU students after hours and weekends; callers should leave a message and a counselor will return their call

FSU, Smoking Cessation and Anger Reduction

3/30/21: COVID-19 UPDATE: PROGRAM IS STILL AVAILABLE *Paid internet based treatment study for persons 18-65 who wish to quit smoking cigarettes and reduce anger that may be associated with smoking behavior *Interested persons must be daily smokers and will be screened for anger range (anger does not have to be problematic) *Eligible participants will be paid $250 and receive free nicotine patches for up to 2 months *Treatment lasts for about 1 month, takes about 7 hours and most can be done from home if internet available *Follow-up lasts about 2 months and takes about 2 hours

*Transitional housing substance abuse program for men and women recently released from prison *Room, board, mentoring, job placement assistance and other supportive services to help gain employment and self-sufficiency *Must be an able bodied worker and have been released in the past year

*Substance Abuse Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) is for adults ages 18 and older who are experiencing difficulty achieving and maintaining sobriety, need support to achieve sobriety and establish a sober support system, or as a step down from a higher level of care with a goal to to empower each person to develop effective strategies that will help them achieve and maintain sobriety through learning new ways to cope with their addiction *Includes fourteen hours of therapeutic group activities per week including intensive group therapy covering a variety of topics to include personal triggers, cravings, family issues, depression/anxiety and relapse prevention, psychosocial assessment, treatment planning, discharge planning, individual and family sessions when clinically appropriate and medication management *No charge for an initial assessment for this program
