Florida National Guard, Family Assistance Centers

*Eight Family Assistance Centers around Florida offer practical assistance and emotional support for families and/or persons in the Florida National Guard or any branch of the military; including veterans *Services include sessions to help prepare for deployment, establishing a family care plan, relocation assistance, financial planning, explaining health benefits, and information and referrals to government and other agencies that interact with the military on family and quality of life issues *Emergency financial assistance when funds are available, most often granted to spouses of deployed service members for unexpected emergencies *Gold Star Program for families who have lost a loved one during active duty, provides emotional support and referrals to support groups, spiritual resources, bereavement and financial counselors, along with guidance to additional survivor resources

FSU, ACTS 2 Alzheimer's Caregiver Training

*Free, faith-based, 12-week, telephone-based, skills-building and support program for African-American caregivers of Alzheimer's patients dealing with memory loss, increasing relaxation techniques, effective thinking, assertive communication, increasing emotional well-being, managing difficult behavior, and setting personal goals *One-on-One prayer and peer support available if requested, but not required for program entry

FSU and TCC, Veterans Success Center

*Helps service members, veterans, and eligible dependents succeed in their education goals, student Veteran peer mentoring and tutoring services, Pathfinder program used to mentor veterans and help guide and adjust to college life *Provides qualified vocational rehabilitation and career counseling *Assistance with applying for VA benefits including GI Bill, disability compensation, life insurance and home loan guaranty *Information and referrals to VA medical and mental health services *Office located in the Computer Technology building on the second floor, room 206 (CT206)

FSU, Couple and Family Therapy Center

*FSU based practice for students and the public where doctoral candidates provide counseling under the supervision of licensed professionals/educators *Offers individual counseling for teens and adults, as individuals, couples, and families both in person or by telemental health; specialty areas of treatment include pre-marital counseling, marriage, family, parenting, divorce therapy, and blended families, but also address issues like court-ordered therapy, substance abuse, grief and loss, interpersonal relationships skills training, self-esteem issues, post-adoption, foster care *Insurance is not accepted, but fees are on par with co-payments; non-students pay $40 per session, FSU, FAMU, TCC students with ID receive a reduced fee of $30; payments may be made online *Support group for victims of interpersonal trauma every Tuesday night, call for more information

FSU, Pride Student Union

*Lesbian/Gay/Bisexual/Transexual/Questioning (LGBTQ) discussion groups meet weekly; call for schedule *Special events such as speakers and socials, information and referral, panels for professors/classes, sensitivity training for city, county, and state governments, library of resources, roommate referral, and legal referrals *Open to the public, persons do not have to be students to use the services provided *Additional information can be found at facebook.

*Provides programs, services, and activities on topics of interest to women *Promotes women's issues on campus, confronts sexual discrimination *Lobbies administration regarding women's issues

*Aids teens and adults with disabilities with in-home training for job readiness, independent living, and social skills *Offers independent living skills training for hygiene, cooking, safety, laundry, budgeting, and time management *Career development training which aids in pre-employment, assistance with obtaining employment, and on-the-job training *Social skills groups which aims to help build friendships and hold meaningful conversations *Consultation for guardians/caretakers which includes disability agency services, adult day programs, recreational opportunities, and guardianship

Gadsden Woman to Woman

*Program is part of the Center for Health Equity *Outreach maternal child program to assure healthy pregnancies and healthy babies *Case management for pregnant, postpartum, parenting women age 14-44 years old as well as advocacy, information/referral, nutritional education, biopsychosocial assessment, physical health assessment, and short term counseling *Peer support groups for pregnant and parenting women *Male involvement and fatherhood support group sessions for fathers *Education on women's health issues for pregnant women, women of childbearing age and mothers of children age birth to 2 years of age *Breastfeeding education and support with Certified Lactation Counselors (CLCs) for women *Peer support groups offered for males and females in Gadsden high schools

Grandparents As Parents (GaP)

*Tallahassee Senior Foundation Program for grandparents who are the primary caregivers for their grandchildren *Offers support groups, informational luncheons, access to community agencies, legal services and health screenings plus social activities *Virtual Support Groups every other Monday via Zoom at 7PM; lunch meetings generally held last Wednesday of the month from 12-1:30pm, at the Leroy Collins Public library

Hang Tough Foundation, Inc

*Program for children age birth - 21 who have been diagnosed with a chronic or life changing illness or with special needs and their families including Parent's Night Out, Caregiver Support Group, Family Fun Nights, Sibling Support, networking with other families, tutoring services and free counseling for child, siblings, parents or caregivers, advocacy and community awareness events
