Description:
*State-approved nonprofit scholarship funding organization that helps administer four scholarships for Florida schoolchildren: the Florida Tax Credit Scholarship Program (FTC) for lower to middle income families, the Family Empowerment Scholarship(FES) for lower to middle income families and students with unique abilities (formerly Gardiner), the Hope Scholarship for public school students who are bullied or victims of violence and the Reading Scholarship Accounts for public school students in third through fifth grade who struggle with reading
*Eligble students include: Students of families with higher income (i.e. nearly $100,000 for a family of 4); Siblings of Family Empowerment Scholarship students (including formerly Gardiner students); Dependent children of an active duty member of the United States Armed Forces; Students with one of the following diagnoses: speech impairment; language impairment; orthopedic impairment; other health impairment; emotional or behavioral disability; or specific learning disability, including but not limited to dyslexia, dyscalculia, or developmental aphasia
*Studesnts may also recieve transportation assistance to a public school up to $750 a year to attend a public school different to the one they are assigned to

Program Fees:
$14 application fee for the Income-Based Scholarship. There is no application fee for the PLSA

Eligibility:
K-12 children may qualify for the INCOME-BASED FLORIDA TAX CREDIT SCHOLARSHIP if a family's household income qualifies for the free or reduced-price school lunch program (185% of the federal poverty guidelines), or if the family receives SNAP (food stamps), TANF, or FDPIR. Children entering kindergarten must be 5 on or before September 1 and children entering first grade must be 6 on or before Sept.1
