Inaccuracies and missing information will delay/deny the application *Please be sure to see the *Reasons for Ineligibility* at the bottom for program limitations *If already in the EVICTION process, please also refer to Legal Services of North Florida (LSNF, ID:2026); The Legal Aid Foundation is referring eviction cases to LSNF *Temporary financial emergency assistance with payments for housing and utility costs; limited to one time per 12 months and no more than 3 times over the life of the program *For qualifying persons, may be able to pay rent, mortgage, utilities or home fuel in order to keep the individual or family in the home; Funds cannot be used to pay security or utility deposits, or late fees *Eligibility: *In most cases, all adults 18 and over in the home must work at least 30 hours per week OR be unemployed and actively seeking to work at least 30 hours a week. Persons ages 16 or 17 who are not in high school, college or tech school have the same work requirements as adults *Exceptions to the employment requirement: 1. An individual who is 62 years old or older 2. An individual who is unable to work (verification from physician or Social Security administration required) 3. An individual who is needed in the home to care for an invalid adult or child (verification from a physician required) 4. An individual who is employed but is currently not working or working fewer hours due to employer layoffs or downsizing (verification from employer required) 5. An individual who has applied for or is receiving unemployment compensation 6. An individual (one adult per household) who is needed in the home to care for an infant under 90 days old 7. Must be a Leon County resident 8. Must have good likelihood of future independence and being able to pay housing and/or utility by the next payment date after receiving assistance 9. For the most recent 30 day period, household income must be less than basic necessity expenses *Household income includes: Any type of earned wages, retirement income, social security, unemployment compensation, SSI/Social Security Disability, Veteran's benefits, child support, alimony, TANF, assistance from family or friends *Basic necessities include: housing, utility/fuel, food, childcare, transportation, phone, internet, unexpected emergency situations *To apply: Persons are encouraged to apply online via the county's website: https://cms.leoncountyfl.gov/Home/Departments/Office-of-Human-Services-and-Community-Partnership/Human-Services/Direct-Emergency-Assistance-Program Or applicants can navigate using the following method: Visit https://cms.leoncountyfl.gov/, on the left near the top, in the ‘Search This Website’ text box, enter ‘Direct Emergency’ and click the double arrows; DEAP should be the first result listing on the right. *Persons unable to apply online may call 850-606-1900 to speak to a Human Services staff member *HOUSING Expenditure Chart LIMITS: 1 Bedroom: $1,183 2 Bedrooms: $1,339 3 Bedrooms: $1,708 4 Bedrooms: $1,902 *UTILITIES Expenditure Chart LIMITS: *Eligible applicants may be awarded up to the amount required to avoid disruption of services for the subsequent 30 days *Applicants are required to demonstrate the ability to make any payments above the award amount required to mitigate utility disconnection Reasons for INELIGIBILITY: *Does not reside in Leon County *Does not provide requested information or documentation; or it is inaccurate or incomplete *Unable to verify information with third parties, as warranted *Has received assistance through DEAP within the last 12 months; or has received DEAP assistance three (3) times during the lifetime of the program *The utilities assistance would not be adequate to prevent disconnection *The rental assistance would not be adequate to prevent eviction *Household does not have any adults working at least 30 hours a week and does not meet the employment exceptions
