*Temporary financial emergency assistance with payments for housing and utility costs; limited to one time per 12 months and no more than 3 times over the life of the program
*For qualifying persons, may be able to pay rent, mortgage, utilities or home fuel in order to keep the individual or family in the home; Funds cannot be used to pay security or utility deposits, or late fees
*Eligibility:
*In most cases, all adults 18 and over in the home must work at least 30 hours per week OR be unemployed and actively seeking to work at least 30 hours a week. Persons ages 16 or 17 who are not in high school, college or tech school have the same work requirements as adults
*Exceptions to the employment requirement:
1. An individual who is 62 years old or older
2. An individual who is unable to work (verification from physician or Social Security administration required)
3. An individual who is needed in the home to care for an invalid adult or child (verification from a physician required)
4. An individual who is employed but is currently not working or working fewer hours due to employer layoffs or downsizing (verification from employer required)
5. An individual who has applied for or is receiving unemployment compensation
6. An individual (one adult per household) who is needed in the home to care for an infant under 90 days old
7. Must be a Leon County resident
8. Must have good likelihood of future independence and being able to pay housing and/or utility by the next payment date after receiving assistance
9. For the most recent 30 day period, household income must be less than basic necessity expenses
*Household income includes: Any type of earned wages, retirement income, social security, unemployment compensation, SSI/Social Security Disability, Veteran's benefits, child support, alimony, TANF, assistance from family or friends
*Basic necessities include: housing, utility/fuel, food, childcare, transportation, phone, internet, unexpected emergency situations
