Tallahassee, City Landlord-Tenant Mediation Program

*Tenant must live in within the Tallahassee City Limits *Mediation: informal process in which neutral third party assists in reaching a negotiated resolution of landlord/tenant dispute; either party can request mediation but both must enter voluntarily *Discuss issues raised, clear up misunderstandings, determine underlying interests or concerns, find areas of agreement and incorporate these into final resolution; helps parties to agree on mutually acceptable resolution *Leave a message giving problem details and receive a return call within 24 hours; it takes 2-3 weeks before mediation is set up *If written or verbal notice of eviction is already received by tenant, this program cannot accept dispute *Program may suggest calling Legal Services of North Florida or housing program offering assistance at this point
