*Core services for persons with disabilities including independent living skills training, information and referral to other relevant organizations, and peer support including a weekly mental health support group *Durable medical equipment loans such as wheelchairs, walkers, crutches, shower chairs and disposable medical supplies (incontinence products) for low income persons with disabilities; special funding available for the purchase of equipment for those living with paralysis, there may be a wait list depending on the type of equipment needed *Home Modification Program provides home improvements necessary to eliminate health, safety and architectural barriers including wheelchair ramp construction, halfsteps, handrails, widening doorways and replacing a bathtub with a walk-in shower *FTRI Amplified Phones (free) for persons with hearing or speech loss; beginning and intermediate American Sign Language classes open to any adult in the community *Youth Transition: High School High Tech (HSHT) gives youth ages 14-22 with all types of disabilities the opportunity to explore jobs or post-secondary education leading to technology-related careers; open to youth from Leon, Gadsden or Wakulla counties, activities include career counseling and workshops, industry and campus tours, summer internships, and community service projects *Assistance in applying for social security benefits for persons with dual diagnosis (mental health and/or substance abuse disabilities)

*Hannah's House: maternity home for homeless pregnant women 16-22, offering time to complete education and prepare for employment while choosing to parent or offer child for adoption *Hidle House: short-term, crisis/runaway shelter for ages 10-17 *The Bridge: transitional living program for homeless youth ages 16-22, offering stable living for up to 18 months focusing on assisting residents in completing their education, secure employment, and preparing for self sufficiency *Family Counseling: A short term, 12 week free service to youth ages 6-17 and their families involving assessment, counseling, referral, and case management services

*HIV Case Management including HOPWA, linkage to other needed services *HIV/AIDS prevention counseling and safer sex education, including supplies and condoms *Dental expense assistance for eligible individuals; up to $1,000 annually *Limited financial assistance for eligible individuals, including utilities, rent, and mortgage assistance *One bag of food per month for eligible individuals

Big Bend Habitat for Humanity

*Helps low-income families acquire modest homes built using volunteer labor *Applicants: must be able to provide 400 hours of sweat equity performing various jobs, lived in Leon or Gadsden Counties for one year or more, held same job or source of income for 6 months or more, have household income within income guidelines, must be willing to make a small cash down payment, be willing to live on a lot provided by Habitat for Humanity *Mortgages: 30 years, houses sold at cost (materials, purchased labor, and land), for no profit and no interest *By June 2023 United Way funding is expected to result in the acquisition of land for 2 small subdivisions with a total of 10-16 sites for homes

*Non-Emergency transitional housing for homeless, adult pregnant women and women with infants up to age 2 (without criminal background) on first come, first serve basis for 6 to 9 months; waiting period may be several months) *Pre and postnatal education, infant care training, case management *Career counseling, encouragement to continue schooling, assistance in finding permanent housing *May help with baby or maternity items on a limited basis

*Privately-owned, federally subsidized housing complex offering one, two and three bedroom apartments some of which rent based on percentage of annual income *Prospective tenants must apply at office for complete screening and application *Some apartments have minimum rental fee *Credit, rental history and criminal background check run on all applicants

*Outreach services for homeless, runaway and at risk youth (11 to 24) on the streets: Provides shelter or tents and/or tarps and survival supplies for living outdoors *Help with finding housing, employment, financial aid, ID acquisition, food stamps, bus tickets home, calls home for safe and well notification *Assistance with Medicaid, health and dental care, prescriptions, pregnancy and STD testing, substance abuse and mental health counseling *Drop in center at 2407 Roberts Ave, Tallahassee, 32310, (Bus Loop 7), open M, W, F, from 10AM-4PM, offers all services plus showers, laundry, computers, meals, food pantry, clothes closet and a safe place to be *Services also available where Safe Place signs are placed, such as a table, banner or vehicle with Going Places logo
