Taxonomy Code: PD-6250.0750-650

Programs that provide training for dogs who will be part of a K-9 team or work in a military setting. Training may focus on narcotics, cadaver or explosives detection; tracking skills; or work that is involved when on patrol (e.g., handler protection, suspect tracking and apprehension, suspect transport, apprehension under gunfire, building search and obedience). Some animals may receive training in multiple areas. Training is also generally available for people who want to be police dog handlers or for experienced handlers who want to improve their skills.
