*Two Components:
*Getting Ahead: 15 week class meets once a week in a relaxed discussion type atmosphere
*For people living in poverty or just getting by day to day, enables participants to assess their current situation and figure out what needs to be done to achieve a better future
*Participants set attainable goals
*Staying ahead: After completing 15 week class, each participant is paired with 2 mentors who meet regularly for about 6 months to advise, counsel and encourage
*Program works closely with Career Source, TCC and Lively Vocational School and has funds to pay for tuition, books, job training, childcare on a case by case basis
*Case managers help facilitate connection with education and job training
