Description:
*Free air transportation for persons with compelling financial needs for medical care, transplants, compassion, veterans, domestic abuse, special needs camps, adoption/foster care or Homeland Security disaster needs for flights
*Patients should ask their social worker or attending physician to call during business hours; doctor must sign medical release
*Patients qualifying can be any age, adults need to be ambulatory, able to sit upright, be medically stable, and able to fly in an un-pressurized plane
*Patients need backup plan in case bad weather does not allow flight to be made
*Transportation provided for a support person accompanying the patient
*Persons with a non-medical, compelling need such as family crisis or community disaster may sometimes also qualify
*Since pilots are volunteers, two weeks notice required to set up a flight; may be less if pilot available
*Air Charity Network, parent association, may be able to help residents of other areas; www.aircharitynetwork.org
